The town of Kidder probably began as a depot, a water tower, and coal bins along the railroad being built from Duluth, MN, to Aberdeen in 1885-86. It was founded in 1885 and probably was named for Jefferson P. Kidder, who was a delegate to Congress from Dayton Township from 1875-1889. He died two years before the town was founded. The first school in Kidder was a two-room building located southeast of town, but in 1919 a new building was built nortwest of town and included a High School. The school was in existence until 1969 when it consolidated with the Britton School District.

The following pictures were sent in by Sue Zimerman. The Man sitting in the Elevator office is not known. If anyone recognizes him, let me know and I will add his name. The next two are of the outside of the Elevator and the last is a photo of Gus Norman. He is listed in the 1909 Business Directory as the buyer of the Norman & Mohn Elevator Co.
