Hi Lowell,

I would like to thank you for helping me with this. I already have recieved an answer from
one of the readers of the Marshall Web Site. The answer was very thorough and gave me
sufficient information so that I easily am able to find any living relatives. There seems to be
quite a few, actually!

If your sister and brother-in-law remembers the Strands I would of course still be
interested. Apparently Seth Strand and his wife Hannah lived on a farm north of Lake city
until 1973. Seths sister Esther and her husband Paul Casperson also lived there -
apperently into the 1980s.

Thanks again!

Hello!

Thank you for a wonderful web site.

I hope that you are able to help me with information on these persons:

STRAND Seth
Parents: STRAND Carl and STRAND Edla

The persons above were relatives to my mother. Edla Strand was my great grandmothers
sister and she and her husband moved from Sweden (where I live) to USA around 1900.
Somehow they got out of touch and noone in my family seems to know what happened. Now
I'm searching for them. According to the social security database Seth Strand died in Lake
City in 1973. According to the land tract records on your website Seths's father Carl Strand
bought a farm in Dumarce which on the map (also on your website) is located just north of
Lake City. What I now would like to know is if there are any surviving relatives in Lake City -
or anywhere else for that matter. I know there were two sisters, Ester (or Esther) and Nellie
(or Nelly) and maybe some other brothers and sisters as well. I know this is a very
complicated question but maybe you could at least give me some clues to where to continue
my search?

Thank you for your help and for an excellent website.

Best regards, Michael Falk

Hi again,

I just recieved a mail from Lance Olson, son of Donald. I'm now sending him
copies of our mails, so I guess you don't have to send all this stuff on to Langford.
Thank you again for your help. If there is anything I can do in return, please let me
know.

Hi,
thanks again for being so helpful to me!

I attach an ancertors chart of Mildreds father Iver. They all lived in the Eikesdal
area in Nesset, Møre and Romsdal county. Iver moved to Averøy on the coast.

2nd is a photo dated July 1966. Front row from left: Marhta or Nellie, my uncle
Anton with his son Svein Arve, his wife Solrun and my grandmother Inga. Back
row from left: My father Rikard with me in his arms, and my mother Else with my
brother Roar in her arms.

3rd attachment - a photo from last summer in Eikesdal, a walley that is quite famous
because of its beauty.

At last a photo of my mother and my nephew Ole Jonny (Roar's son). We
climbed a mountain on the main land and they look across the fjord (that you can't
see) over to the island Averøy where we are from. Our farm that Nellie and
Martha visited lies on the other side of the small lake in the centre of the picture.
The horizon and the ocean melt together somewhere in the fog long way out
west....
Thanks again,
Knut Olav

Dear Lowell,

thank you very much for your information!
Luckily the Norwegian 1865 census and the emigration records are available on
the internet. I believe I found Mildred in the 1865 census as Mildri Christiane
Aase. However, her age was stated to be 3 years, but I also found her parents so
I could establish the fact that this Mildred's mother was my great-great
grandfather's sister. So I guess this must be the right Mildred. That make Richard
and Donald Olson my grandmother Inga's 2.nd cousins.
I also found some information in the emigration records, dated May 6, 1886:
Mildri Øveraas (the surname Aase is a simplification of Øveraas), born in
Kristiansund (Christiansund) in 1863, emigrated from Norway, destination
Minnesota. It also says that she then was a widow. Unfortunately the church
registers from Kristiansund was lost in fire because of the Nazi-bombing in 1940.

Do you have any contact with the Olsons? If you do, and if they have any interest
in genealogy please share this information with them. I also have a picture from
1966 of Martha or Nellie together with my grandmother, me and my parents and
som other family members. I was then only 3 years old. I could have this photo
scanned if they would like to se it.

Thank's again for your help, it was fantastic!

Hi Knut,

I knew Otto very well, if my memory serves me correctly his wife Clara
was my first Sunday School teacher. In those days we still had at least
one sermon a month in Norwegian.

There is a short writeup on Otto and Clara and their family in the
Langford Centennial book from 1986. Otto's father was Nils Olson, but
prior to coming to South Dakota he was Nils Sjurson and Otto's
Grandfather was named Ole Sjurson.

Nils (Sjurson) Olson was born in Etne, Norway in March of 1984. His wife
Mildred, Otto's grandmother, was born in Christiansund, Norway on
October 20, 1864.

Otto has two sons, Richard and Donald Olson living near Langford on
farms. They would be about 72 and 69 years old, Richard was one of my
brother's best friends as they were growing up and both of them spent a
lot of time at our house. You could reach them by mail at Langford,
South Dakota, 57454 - I believe it is RR 1, but Langford is such a small
town that the mail would reach them without the Rural Route number.

Nils had two brothers all of whom homesteaded along the same road which
has been called the Olson Highway as long as I can remember. He and his
brothers all had large families so there are still many Olson's in the
area.

Hope this helps! Thanks! Lowell

Hi,
I'm looking for relatives of- or ancestors of OTTO S. OLSON, born October 10,
1891, died April 26. 1980 in Langford, SD. He was buried in Hillside Cemetery,
Langford. Otto's sister Mrs. NELLIE CONARROE visited my grandmother INGA
HOSET in Norway around 1960- 1965. My grandmother claimed they were
relatives and I'm very interested to learn more about how they were related to
eachother.
Best regards from
