The following people who live in Marshall County have volunteered to be local "legs" for those of us who are unable to get to Marshall County. I and most of the participants on this site have either moved away or only know of people who have lived in Marshall County. It is especially useful to have these volunteers since very little information about Marshall County has been digitized and placed on the Internet.

Any other volunteers who wish to participate please let me know and I will include your Email and areas of interest on this page as well.

When requesting information from Volunteers, please do the following:
1. State where you found the Volunteers Email Address information.
2. Copy me (lkh35@earthlink.net) so that I can coordinate the activities.
3. Let me know if any of the Emails exchanged should not be made public.
4. Be as specific as possible in your request.
5. Make sure your correct Email Address is included in the body of the Email.

To send an Email to a Volunteer merely click on their name to begin the process.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for making this site more useful - Lowell Hanson

Susan Wismer

Hi, My family names are Jones, Wallace, Bingham, McKinney, Beach, Ross, Stiles, and Wismer. Six of my greatgrandparents homesteaded or grew up in Lowell Township. I was born and raised here, and so was my husband. I'm best at Britton, Spain, and Amherst, but have the courthouse and the Marshall County History book, published in 1984, to refer to in other cases. The Register of Deed's office is not computerized, so it takes legwork to get info there. The local historical society is thinking about compiling lists of people buried at the little rural cemeteries, but I don't think it's done yet.

A volunteer page sounds great. The best way to try to get a hold of me,
is probably sending me an email. I have two email addresses. The one I
use the most is: tbehnke@sbtc.net and the other is
behnketina@hotmail.com. I live in Britton and lived here most of my
life. Yes, I know Susan Wismer. Let me know if you are going to
proceed with the web page. I gladly do what I can to help.
Thanks,

Hi Lowell,

I was going through the Marshall Co Pioneers page and saw pictures of
two ladies that are 100+. My grandfather, Charlie Behnke, is turing 100
on Dec. 27, 2000. He still lives in Britton, only about a half mile
from the original Behnke Homestead. I clean for Gunda Holverson, she is
a nice lady!

Lowell,

My family names are Olson, Lea, Watnaas, Stavig, Stavick and Gronseth in the Marshall county area. My maternal and paternal great grandparents homesteaded here. If someone knew exact dates, I would be able to look up information as time permits. I recently moved back home and I feel like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, "there's no place like home!" Life here is wonderfully simple. Hope that I may be of assistance. Thank you for making a web site!

Sincerely, Kay Marie
